Nonstabilized Nielsen coincidence invariants and Hopf--Ganea homomorphisms

چکیده
In classical fixed point and coincidence theory the notion of Nielsen numbers has proved to be extremely fruitful. We extend it to pairs (f1, f2) of maps between manifolds of arbitrary dimensions, using nonstabilized normal bordism theory as our main tool. This leads to estimates of the minimum numbers MCC(f1, f2) (and MC(f1, f2), resp.) of pathcomponents (and of points, resp.) in the coincidence sets of those pairs of maps which are homotopic to (f1, f2). Furthermore, we deduce finiteness conditions for MC(f1, f2). As an application we compute both minimum numbers explicitly in various concrete geometric sample situations. The Nielsen decomposition of a coincidence set is induced by the decomposition of a certain path space E(f1, f2) into pathcomponents. Its higher dimensional topology captures further crucial geometric coincidence data. In the setting of homotopy groups the resulting invariants are closely related to certain Hopf-Ganea homomorphisms which turn out to yield finiteness obstructions for MC.

Remnant properties in Nielsen coincidence theory
We give an extension to coincidence theory of some key ideas from Nielsen fixed point theory involving remnant properties of free group homomorphisms. In particular we extend Wagner’s theorem for computing Reidemeister classes for Wagner characteristic homomorphisms, which allows us to compute doubly twisted conjugacy classes in many cases. We also extend Kim’s method for homomorphisms with bou...
متن کاملLinking and Coincidence Invariants
Given a link map f into a manifold of the form Q = N ×R, when can it be deformed to an “unlinked” position (in some sense, e.g. where its components map to disjoint R-levels)? Using the language of normal bordism theory as well as the path space approach of Hatcher and Quinn we define obstructions ω̃ε(f), ε = + or ε = −, which often answer this question completely and which, in addition, turn ou...
متن کاملInvolutory Hopf algebras and 3-manifold invariants
We establish a 3-manifold invariant for each finite-dimensional, involutory Hopf algebra. If the Hopf algebra is the group algebra of a group G, the invariant counts homomorphisms from the fundamental group of the manifold to G. The invariant can be viewed as a state model on a Heegaard diagram or a triangulation of the manifold. The computation of the invariant involves tensor products and con...
متن کاملSome Characterizations of Hopf Group on Fuzzy Topological Spaces
In this paper, some fundamental concepts are given relating to fuzzytopological spaces. Then it is shown that there is a contravariant functorfrom the category of the pointed fuzzy topological spaces to the category ofgroups and homomorphisms. Also the fuzzy topological spaces which are Hopfspaces are investigated and it is shown that a pointed fuzzy toplogicalspace having the same homotopy typ...
متن کاملNielsen Coincidence Theory in Arbitrary Codimensions
Given two maps f1, f2 : M −→ N between manifolds of the indicated arbitrary dimensions, when can they be deformed away from one another? More generally: what is the minimum number MCC(f1, f2) of pathcomponents of the coincidence space of maps f ′ 1 , f ′ 2 where f ′ i is homotopic to fi, i = 1, 2 ? Approaching this question via normal bordism theory we define a lower bound N(f1, f2) which gener...
